RV Camping in Las Vegas by Andrea Wilson

For me Las Vegas provides the perfect escape from reality.

There are several options to choose from if you are camping in or around Las Vegas.  My suggestion is to make a camping reservation for your first couple of nights and then check out the area when you arrive.

Some of the most affordable camping may not be advertised, so a drive around town can turn into quite a treasure hunt for RV Camping.

One off the strip location to consider is The Las Vegas Bay Campground  located on the farthest tip of Lake Mead's western shore. The view from the campground trail offers a good view of the Las Vegas Wash merging into the Las Vegas Bay of Lake Mead.
All Lake Mead National Park Service campgrounds offer restrooms, running water, dump stations, grills, picnic tables and shade. RV's, trailers and tents welcome. The nearby Las Vegas Bay Marina offers a variety of services from a marina store with boating, picnicking and gift supplies, to boat and wave runner rentals, on the water slips, and dry storage.

Another spot away from the strip, 55 mi/89 km northeast of Las Vegas is The Valley of Fire State Park. With 115 million-year-old red sandstone rock formations and natural trails for hiking in the open desert it is an excellent photographic adventure. During the summer months the Valley of Fire is blisteringly hot. Take along water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and other layers of clothing to protect yourself from the sun. Park is open sunrise to sunset. The visitors center is open 8:30 am-4:30 pm.

If the action of the Las Vegas lights is more your style
try the KOA campground at Circus Circus.
This unique spot offers all the amenities of KOA right on the Las Vegas Strip. Campers have access to one of Las Vegas’ top family resorts: Circus Circus features an indoor theme park (Adventuredome), a midway with daily circus acts, three full-size casinos, swimming pools, spa, video arcade, award-winning restaurants and more. Set out on day trips to Hoover Dam and other highlights.

The campground features 366 big-rig sites with full hookups. Take advantage of a pet-walk area, business center and Internet connections. Groups will appreciate the on-site meeting facility (local catering available). Enjoy all the excitement of Vegas, then come back and relax in the comfort of your own RV.

A little over 4 miles NE of the city you will find some lesser known camping spots The Hitchin' Post, Las Casitas Trailer Park and American Campgrounds
